Reading about Jonathan Edwards and his spiritual discipline of journaling. Sometimes his journal just said, "sluggish" or some other one-word description. I often thought that these descriptions were, well, cheap! Sitting here after devotions one word comes up for me...
Listless.
This is my A.D.D. morning. Short attention span, not spiritually hungry, not grateful, not focused, just...listless.
And then He leads me to Psalm 142:
With my voice I cry out to the Lord; with my voice I plead for mercy to the Lord.
I cry to you, O Lord; I say, "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living."
And again He meets me. His word is cool water when my soul is thirsty. His Word is always open to me and it calls to me when the road is long, when my soul is parched, when there is no shade for my journey.
Has there been a time when the Word of God has been living and active for you? Encourage others by sharing that in the comment section.
