This is a very hard blog for me to write. A very close friend of ours underwent surgery yesterday. I will leave out the name and the nature of the procedure for her privacy, although around our church, she had been very open about it. I will say that the procedure is major and that the nature of the condition is very serious.
I saw her last on Sunday and she was so upbeat. She has lost a good deal of weight recently and she said that because of that, she was able to have the procedure done in a better way than if she had the extra weight. Immediately she thanked God for that.
Now here is a woman who could be questioning God for the condition that she is in or she could be taking credit for her discipline in dieting. But she allowed any credit to pass by her and gave all the glory to God. I pray that I would have that gracious response when placed in the same circumstances.
We got the initial report from the surgery and it was all good!!! There is still a long road ahead, but we can only take one step at a time – and this one was a good one.
Application –
1.) I encourage you to pray for her and for her continued progress.
2.) Let her be a challenge to you. What difficult times are you going thru? How are you handling them? Are you seeing them as God-given and are they drawing you to worship?
3.) Encourage us all. Please take time to comment – and add a story about how God has met you or a friend during a challenging time.
